Sweet Garden Maintenance Services

Lawn Mowing

Sweet Garden Lawn care offers residential and commercial mowing. Our mowing service includes line trimming, edging and blowing. We trim or edge along your home or office foundation and all fence lines, as well as around trees, flower beds, sidewalks, and curbs. After trimming, we use blowers to remove debris from all hard surfaces.

Lawn Mowing starts at $30.

Mowing Frequency

Frequent mowing helps your lawn resist weeds, insects, and disease. Infrequent mowing causes too much grass to be removed at one time so the lawn looks thin, spotty, or burned. As a general rule, we never cut more than one-third the length of your grass at a time.

Clients with smaller properties will be pleased to know that all of our mowing crews are equipped with various sizes and types of state-of-the-art machinery. This enables us to cater to the specific needs of each individual site.

We sharpen the blades on our machines after a full day of work, so every lawn receives the cleanest cut possible. Dull mower blades make your grass appear jagged and uneven, and a dull cut makes your lawn more susceptible to disease.

Spring and Fall Cleanup

We cleanup all leaves, sticks, and other debris from your property. Curbside leaf pile pickup also available.

Weeding

Removal of unwanted weeds from flower and mulch beds

Edging

Edging gives definition to garden borders, and helps to prevent weeds and grass from spreading into undesired areas of the garden.

Mulching

Fresh mulch not only will make a huge visual improvement to your current landscape but it has its beneficial purposes as well:

  • Increases moisture retention
  • Serves as barrier against weeds
  • Reduces soil erosion
  • Helps prevent soil compaction
  • Keeps roots insulated during extreme temperatures
  • Creates a buffer zone between your plantings and your lawn, which limits mower damage to plants and competition with turf
  • Improves organic composition of existing soil
  • Provides a “finishing touch” to your landscape beds

Recommended mulch depth is 3” – 4”. We guarantee that our crews are trained for proper and professional mulch installation.

Sweet Garden Lawn Care uses a high quality, double shredded hardwood & bark mulch. This is the best mulch available. Colored mulch available upon request.

Estimates for mulch installation are complimentary. An estimator will visit your property, determine the quantity of mulch required, and leave an estimate at your door.

Trimming and Pruning

Trimming is the process of grooming or shaping a tree or shrub to achieve or maintain a specific design. Pruning is performed for the health of a plant. Typically pruning involves removing diseased or dead portions of a tree or shrub. Pruning can also be used to stimulate blooming in flowering trees and shrubs.

Trimming and Pruning can be performed any time. As for the ideal time, you want to avoid times of drought or extreme heat as plants will be stressed. Another consideration is the times at which particular plants bloom. Trimming and pruning just before a plant is scheduled to bloom will not hurt the plant, but will prevent it from blooming till the following cycle.

Seasonal Flower Installation

This is the perfect service for those of you who love to have year-round color. Sweet Garden Lawn Care offers two seasonal flower installations per season.

Spring Flower Installation (Begonias, Impatiens, Petunias, and Annual Vinca)

Fall Flower Installation (Pansies)

Aeration

Core aeration relieves soil compaction and increases the effectiveness of our Lawn Care Program by increasing oxygen, water, fertilizer and nutrients intake to the root zone. Aeration can be done more than once a year, if necessary.

Dethatching

Thatch is simply the layer of dead grass, roots, and debris that accumulates between the soil surface and the green grass blades above. Over time, it forms a thick mat, hindering water and air from reaching the soil and providing an environment that can encourage pests and diseases. Dethatching can help prevent these problems. Almost every lawn needs dethatching about once a year, or whenever the thatch reaches a thickness of about 1/2 inch.

Over Seeding

Over-Seeding of thin and bare spots at the rate of 4 lbs/1000 square feet using an improved turf grass variety seed to blend with existing turf.

Top Dressing

A ¼” of organic compost will be applied to all lawn areas to feed the soil nutrients and organic matter. Helps to relieve compaction and improve drainage.

Fertilization

Starter Fertilizer applied to seeded and /or aerated areas to improve seed germination and root development

Weed Control

Pre-emergent is used in early spring to prevent most germination from occurring. If a weed is able to germinate, weeds can be removed manually or a chemical application can be applied to eradicate them. (Note: Regular lawn maintenance, including Weekly lawn mowing, can reduce the spread of weeds.)

Soil Analysis

The best way to determine if your lawn requires certain plant nutrients is through soil analysis. Testing is easy to do and inexpensive. The results returned to you will include your soil analysis and recommendations on the amounts of nutrients and lime that would be beneficial to your lawn. Soil samples may be collected at any time of the year, provided there has not experienced a prolonged period of drought and no nitrogen has been applied to the soil within the last thirty (30) days. If no samples have been taken within the last two years, samples should be taken as soon as circumstances permit.

Tree Services

We do have the ability to remove downed trees and tree limbs. We DO NOT cut down trees above twenty-five (25) feet in height. Tree stump can be removed or grinded in place.

Snow Removal

Following an overnight accumulation of two (2) inches or greater, we will start Snow Removal operations for commercial properties at 5am. Servicing of Residential properties will commence when snow accumulation has stopped. We use and recommend Magnesium Chloride. When comparing Magnesium Chloride against other popular products, it is found to be safer for concrete and asphalt, it performs more effective at lower temperatures, it is safer for people and pets, and it is safer for the environment.

Leaf Removal

Excess leaf accumulation can restrict sunlight, nutrients, and water from reaching your lawn. We remove the leaves from the turf, mulch beds, tree rings, roadways, and walkways up to three times during the Fall season and haul them off-site. (Fall season lasts from November 1st to December 31)

Gutter Cleaning

It is very important to clean the gutter, so the downspouts will not be clogged by falling leaves. The last thing a home owner wants is foundation problem associated with clogged, gutters or drains!
